Types of Small Businesses Prosper During Covid-19

A lot of companies are now in burden and grieve due to pandemic caused by coronavirus disease; however, some small businesses make profit and sales in the middle of the crisis.

We hear stories of business owners that they have usually needed to close or shut down their stores these past months. Some of them need to lay off workers and employees to make a cost-cutting on their budget. Luckily, some businesses are alive and thriving even in a pandemic crisis. Nowadays, all types of businesses should adopt the new normal to pull through and survive.

Here are types of small businesses that prosper during the Covid-19 pandemic.

  • Grocery Stores and Market

Since the government announces the community quarantine in Luzon and other islands, many establishments such as restaurants, coffee shops, and fast food are forced to shut down and stop their operations. This is the reason why most families are stocking up some goods and raw products to be eaten at home. The demand for food became higher these past few months, and this has led to an upstanding profit to small and large grocery stores as well as markets.

Small grocery stores and the market has an important role in supplying the demands of people around the country. Customers are used to buying a large amount of good for their weekly food budget and necessities. In fact, before the announcement of community quarantine, people are starting hoarding items in groceries such as tissue, hand sanitizers, alcohol, and other essentials.

  • Delivery Services

Due to the spread of coronavirus disease, many consumers are afraid to leave their houses. Furthermore, local governments are also implementing these regulations to keep people safe and secure. Thankfully, there are delivery services that can help us to get our foods and necessities way to our home.

Local delivery services such as Grab, Lalamove, Speedy, and others are essential in these hard times where people are restricted to go outside.

  • Cleaning services

Maybe some of us are not familiars with professional cleaning services, but due to coronavirus disease a lot of offices, commercial buildings, medical facilities, and other establishments are now renting professional cleaners. This type of service is very in demand nowadays, since we need to maintain a place clean and sanitized regularly.

  • Food Businesses

Because of the forced shutdown of several restaurants and fast food that is located inside malls or establishments, many small businesses that offer food that serves already prepared meals to take this advantage. Some examples of small food businesses are catering and food carts, where they usually serve prepared meals and snacks.

A catering business provides food for different events. Right now, they offer prepared meals such as lunch and dinners for essential workers and front liners. While food cart business owners whether franchise or independent, continuously sell their products to nearby villages or subdivisions. Food cart business that offers snacks or beverages such as burgers, frappes, and milk tea are in demand especially this summer season.

  • Liquor stores

After a few months, the liquor ban was lifted in some areas last June 06, 2020. Of course, many liquor drinkers were excited with this announcement from the local government that most of them purchased a large amount.

Another reason why a liquor store has increased its sales is because of the shutdowns of pubs and bars where people usually visit to have a drink.
